Community Solar Panel Discount Scheme

Harnessing the power of the sun to create your own energy is a truly renewable power source that won’t pollute the environment. Solar panels will also reduce your energy bills and excess energy can be sold back. As solar photovoltaic panels are not included in the Green Home Grant, our community buying scheme is an opportunity to get them for a discount of up to 20% off.

Residents of Royal Wootton Bassett, Lyneham, Purton, Wroughton and surrounding areas – anyone in SN4, SN5 and SN15 – are eligible for the scheme.

How the buying scheme works

Acknowledgements and thanks to Zero Chippenham who set up the scheme and kindly extended it to our group. Zero Chippenham interviewed local installers who cover the Wiltshire area and compared their prices, accreditation, track record and advice given. The two suppliers selected for the scheme are MSG certified and offer discounts ranging between 10% and 20% depending on the size and the selection of product used

Residents in SN4, SN5 and SN15 can apply by contacting ecorwb@mail.com to receive a short form to fill out. This will be sent on to the suppliers to enable them to manage the enquiry. The suppliers will then contact residents to make an appointment to visit (subject to any Covid-19 based risk assessments), discuss specific requirements and offer their advice. After the suppliers have been able to assess the property, residents will receive a no obligation quote with up to 20% discount.

Please note that Zero Chippenham continue to monitor the scheme, the suppliers and those who chose to participate. Should residents decide to make a purchase, Zero Chippenham would appreciate any feedback to help them keep the scheme under review.

The scheme is open ended which means residents can apply at any time. Please share it with anyone you think might be interested. Together we can make a difference and do our part to reduce carbon emissions in our area.

Covid-19 Risk Assessment

PLEASE NOTE: The solar installers who are part of the scheme are able to offer a covid risk assessment following government safety guidelines. If you are interested in buying solar pv panels for your home via the scheme please get in touch as outlined above and feel free to ask for a covid based risk assessment from the installers prior to undertaking any site visits. Please remember you will be contracting with the installers directly and as such they must provide you with all safety information you need prior to commencing any physical contact of any kind in order for you to make your own judgement on whether to proceed.
