Latest News Sept 2020 - Our RWB Cycle and Walking Survey Results are in! Click here to read it
Our Cycling group is open to anyone interested in supporting cycling and the development of safe paths as a way to transition to sustainable transport and mobility for the people of Royal Wootton Bassett (RWB). It is focused on 3 projects:
Getting the planned RWB to Swindon cycle link route built and open asap (ideally before the end 2020 if possible)
Enabling cycling for all within RWB by developing a series of safe, signed local routes using existing infrastructure wherever possible that cover the whole town.
Developing safe routes linking RWB with other communities locally.
We meet every couple of months (currently virtually) to update progress and see how we can move things on.
Proposed route from RWB to Swindon
We are in contact with most of the key stakeholders for the RWB-Swindon cycle path and trying to accelerate its progress which is slow. We have started mapping the local RWB routes and are looking into how making small changes to the paths, such as cycle path signs, promoting the cycle paths etc could get them up and running as a real alternative to driving around RWB.
We welcome support and insight from anyone and are happy for you to be involved as you can. You don't necessarily have to come to meetings. We are looking for people to help us lobby, write to local businesses, map routes and raise awareness. If you are too busy or don't want to take another thing on, you can also help us by indicating your support for our projects and tell people about them.
